About Zukibooks

Zukibooks turns one photograph of a child into an illustrated storybook in which that child is the hero. We are a small Swiss company. This page explains who we are, how a book is actually made, and what happens to your child's photo.

1.Who we are

Zukibooks is operated by Cambrian KlG, registered at In der Luberzen 25, 8902 Urdorf, Switzerland. Being a Swiss company with European customers means both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and the European GDPR apply to how we handle data. Our books are printed and bound in Switzerland and shipped to the twenty-seven countries of the European Union and to Switzerland. You can reach a person at info@zukibooks.com.

2.How a book is made

Every story is written for children roughly one to eight years old and illustrated by hand by our artists before anyone orders it. When you upload a photo, our own technology draws your child as a character in that same illustrated style, and the story is built around them. The character takes about four minutes and you watch it appear on screen. You choose the story, and whether your child wears the outfit from their photo or one that suits the story. You see the character and the opening spreads before you pay anything.

3.What you get

A Zukibooks book is a premium hardcover of twenty-four pages with lay-flat binding, printed and bound in Switzerland. The hardcover on its own is EUR 49.95, or CHF 49.95 in Switzerland. Hardcover with the digital edition is EUR 59.95; the digital edition is ready about half an hour after ordering, so the book can be read the same evening while the printed copy is on its way. Printed books arrive in roughly five to seven business days, depending on the country and the delivery speed chosen at checkout. Every book is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

4.Your child's photo

The photo you upload is used for exactly one thing: drawing your child's character. It is deleted automatically as soon as that illustration exists, and from then on we work only with the illustrated version. Your data is held on European servers. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy, and if you want your order history and any artwork we still hold removed, write to info@zukibooks.com and we will delete it.

5.Talking to us

Write to info@zukibooks.com or use the contact form, and we will answer as soon as possible. If something about a book is not right, tell us early: because each book is made for one named child, a printed copy cannot be resold, so we would much rather fix a problem before it goes to print.
